I need to love something so desperately that the love of it will cast out every fear. A lot of us know about that kind of love. For something, some cause, some combination of wonder that is happening--to love it so desperately that you move right into it and there is no fear because your love is so great. The highest love is that of the Lord himself. That love can be so focused, so deep, so intense and so related to the call of God that even when I know I'm not "safe" in the surface sense, being faithful to that call I know I'm safe. I know that all things are working together for good for those who are called according to his purpose.
It was so good this morning, the day after Valentine's Day, to find Mary Cosby's beautiful comment about love. Her life and observations have been, and are, an inspiring example of what love is all about.
This comes so timely...will meditate and absorb the encouragement...will refocus on that which I am passionate about and trust that this renewed attention will dissolve the anxiety that is rising at work right now with several who are undermining my work, falsely accusing me of things, and I have requested a meeting with our director to clear the air. How easily this sort of confusion sidetracks me...maybe any of us. Within the context of Cosby's words, I do passionately love my kids and my work with them and somehow i have offended others in the process. But God's love is big enough to encompass it all...fearlessly.
I cannot verbalize how wonderful it is to have i/o returned with daily wisdom, perspective, encouragement, and connection with everyone...
Thank You Mary,
I share with you in knowing of the "Spirit of Need and Love" of which you so greatly and simply speak. I continue daily to experience this Spirit in my love for my Wife, my children and grandchildren and all my Family. The same is true daily for my Lord and Savior Jesus, My Father in Heaven who sent Jesus to & for me, and the Holy Spirit who enables me to daily manifest and give away many gifts of Christ's love, forgiveness, listening, and His healing to those He alone puts in my daily path...to Love as Jesus loved is truly to live, without fear and without the "needs" that fill our minds with the darkness of this world.
Yes to Marilyn's comment above, yes!
The Gospels witness to us that PERFECT LOVE cast out all Fear! What a superlative invitation, who would not desire this KIND of LOVE! This KIND of LOVE - the 'Perfection of Love', does not come cheap. It costs, it costs dearly. Because it is a "Suffering LOVE" - a ruby red Martyrs LOVE! The world does not understand this KIND of LOVE, it never will: "HE came into the world and the world knew HIM not, HE came unto HIS own and HIS own received HIM not".
To be PASSIONATE "...about something, some cause...because your Love is so great". Jesus sought ONLY to do HIS Father's Will, whatever it cost HIM, where ever it took HIM, even to the CROSS, because HE was/is PASSIONATE FOR SOULS - HE Loved HIS own and HE Loved them to the end!!!
