We must learn to look through every gift and every event to God and never be content with the thing itself. There is no stopping place in this life--no, nor was there ever one for any man, no matter how far along his way he'd gone. This above all, then, be ready at all times for the gifts of God and always for new ones.
Total acceptance of every event, good or bad, coming our way. Not be slaves to our ego but be open to new possibilities every day and not get stuck thinking we have made it...That's how I am taking this. Also rejoice in the higher power that everything points to. We are not alone here. Am interested to read others' comments.
I am currently reading Elizabeth Gilbert's book, Eat, Pray and Love. I'm at the place where "Liz" is in India, living in an Ashram, and having difficulty with one of the meditation "styles" for want of a better descriptive word. "Liz" decides to participate in the Gurugita, anyway. She eventually devotes the Gurugita to her nephew who is having all sorts of issues, and finishes the meditation. She later finds out that shortly after she had finished the Gurugita that day, "her [nephew]-- for reasons nobody could understand--...suddenly wasn't having trouble falling asleep anymore."
I read this part last evening, and then saw this posting this morning, specifically "This above all, then, be ready at all times for the gifts of God and always for new ones."
I continue to be amazed how life "falls" together when I am looking for it. How God continually gifts each of us with His presence in our lives "for reasons nobody could [can] understand".
