The creative act is one of great boldness where you act on your own beliefs. Creativity is the ability to risk being different from the crowd, to think differently, to act differently, and yet in a calculated, orderly fashion so that your idea, your vision, your new insight, is clear. It is the successful effort to make completeness out of chaos, to make the world dance, for a moment or forever, to your drum, at your pace, to your dream.
yes, creativity is allowing our soul to express itself in various forms, styles and colors. when one is creative, she/he is in touch with her/his inner power i call- soul. it is most wonderful when a person is creative for then she/he becomes more than what others perceive of her/him. in short, by being creative we become who we are- person with capacity to go beyond the ordinary being in this world. everytme i "use" my creativity i feel different, unique, special and beautiful.
I like that! Reminds me of a praise to God that welled up within me several years ago:
"The lips of a poet have You, speaking order and rhythm into all the earth."
I believe, since we are formed in God's image, everyone has creative abilities. Some are stuck on the orderly side, which stifles creativity, or stuck on the creative side, and have a difficult time allowing the necessary order to come. We need each other to be fully released into our own creativity, and bring the beauty, the order, the rhythm that will display God's glory and speak His voice in new ways upon the earth! Could part of the earth's groaning be for you to display your own creativity?
Judy overstates her case in the last sentence. My creative act does not involve "making the world dance...to [my] drum." That is, unless we define "creative" so broadly as to include "tyrannical." I hope that such true creativity as I might have to offer will make the world a better (e.g., safer, happier, more beautiful, yes, even more creative) place in which to live, but there is no need to have all of you dance to my drum. Your own tympani will do just fine.
